Council weeds officers undertake property inspection programs as a
basic requirement of their duties under the Noxious Weeds Act. They are
also available to respond to requests from landholders who have a particular
concern with a weed problem.

Contract spot and boom spraying
Some councils operate a contract spot or

Property
search information (S.64) -
property sales
In response to a written application
from a prospective property purchaser or his/her agent, certification will be provided as to whether there are
any (1) outstanding weed control notices on the property, (2) outstanding
fees or charges in relation to weed control notices and (3) charges
against the land resulting from previous weed control notices.

Property
purchasers - “BUYER
BEWARE! ”:
A prospective property purchaser
should be aware that a “clearance” as stated on a Section 64 Certificate
(as described above) DOES NOT necessarily have any relevance to the
property’s general and existing noxious
weed status. The law provides that Council may only supply specific
information as per (1), (2) and (3) above. Council is NOT permitted to provide
details of the property’s noxious weed status to any person other than the
current owner/occupier.
